CA BOCES County Government Interns to Hold Walk-a-Thon

The CA BOCES County Government Intern class, led by John Butler, is planning to hold their second annual Walk-a-Thon in the Village of Belmont on Monday, May 9 beginning at 10:00 a.m.  The event is open to anyone who wants to participate, either by walking, or by sponsoring one or more of the walkers.

The beneficiary of the event this year will be Hart Comfort House located at 141 East State Street in Wellsville.  The Comfort House of Allegany County offers free comfort care to terminally ill residents and their families, allowing them dignity and blessings in their remaining time.  It is designed as an alternative to the hospital or a nursing home when a person can no longer be looked after in his or her own home. Admission is based solely on need.  For more information, visit  https://comforthouseofalleganycounty.org/

T-shirts for the event, designed by the County Government students, will also be for sale that day with all proceeds going to the Hart Comfort House.  As a special highlight, the students plan to pay tribute to Sheriff Rick Whitney on the Courthouse steps prior to the event to honor his 47 years of service as he plans to retire at the end of his current term.  In order to sponsor a walker or purchase a T-shirt, please contact John Butler through his email john_butler@caboces.orgcreate new email or call 716-376-8284.
