Notice of PowerSchool Data Event

The Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES (“CABOCES”) is providing notice of a recent event that may have affected the privacy of information related to certain individuals. The information involved in these events may include data related to current and former employees, as well as some student data.

PowerSchool, a software vendor utilized by CABOCES, experienced a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to information stored within the PowerSchool Information System (SIS). This event occurred within PowerSchool’s SIS and did not impact CABOCES’ systems or operations. As only PowerSchool maintains the visibility and access needed to complete a comprehensive investigation into this incident, CABOCES must rely on the information provided by PowerSchool to confirm the extent to which, if at all, personal information was involved. At this time, PowerSchool has not provided CABOCES with conclusive findings as it relates to CABOCES data. CABOCES encourages staff, students, and their families to take whatever steps they feel are necessary to protect their information.

PowerSchool is providing complimentary Experian credit monitoring and identity protection services to educators, students, and their families. Additional information about PowerSchool’s investigation and the credit monitoring services being offered by PowerSchool can be found on PowerSchool’s website at https://www.powerschool.com/security/sis-incident/notice-of-united-states-data-breach/.
