Retirement

Full-time (12-month) classified employees and professional and full-time (10-month) instructional employees are required to participate in the NYS Teachers’ Retirement Plan (TRS), or the NYS Employees’ Retirement Plan (ERS). Membership is optional for part-time and 10-month classified employees. Both the District and the employee contribute to the plans.

Eligibility is from date of hire. Once your application has been completed and sent to the State, you will receive a retirement account number and more detailed information regarding the retirement system. Annual statements are provided by TRS and ERS and are mailed to your home.

Full-time employees are also eligible to enroll on a voluntary basis in a 457(b) and/or 403(b) plan.

Section 211 Employment Waivers

Section 211 of Retirement and Social Security Law

Employment Waiver Notification Effective September 1, 2019

Bernard T. Riley received approval for temporary employment as a retiree under Section 211 of the Retirement and Social Security Law. This temporary employment as a Criminal Justice Instructor for the Cattaragus-Allegany BOCES will run from September 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020. The compensation package for this employment is established by collective bargaining agreement, and his annual salary is approved at salary Step 17. As a retiree, Mr. Riley reserves that right to receive his pension while employed with the Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES.
