Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to take the TEAS exam?

Yes, all applicants must take a pre-entrance exam to be considered for acceptance (New York State requirement). If you have already taken the TEAS exam within the past 12 months, we require an official transcript of the results sent directly from ATI. Request transcripts from ATI by calling 1-800-667-7531opens phone dialerPlease note that we may not take the results of any TEAS exam taken after 3/28/25 if the TEAS was not taken at our facility.

What is on the TEAS exam?

The TEAS exam consists of four sections:

    • Reading: paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension, and inferences/conclusions.
    • Math: whole numbers, metric conversion, fractions, decimals, algebraic equations, percentages, and ratio/proportion.
    • Science: science reasoning, science knowledge, biology, chemistry, basic physical principles, and general science.
    • English and Language Usage: punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words, and spelling.

How can I best prepare for taking the TEAS?

Visit www.atitesting.com. ATI offers review products: a study manual and an online assessment. The following are also helpful links:

Can I use a calculator on the TEAS?

Since the TEAS is online, the website provides a calculator to use.

How long will it take for me to get my TEAS scores?

Your results will be available online immediately after finishing the exam; whoever proctors your test will review these with you at the end of your test.  A formal report will need to be sent to us afterwards.

What is considered a passing score on the TEAS?

We look for a combined overall score of 55 on the TEAS exam to be considered for the program, or both a 50+ on the Math and a 60+ on the Reading.

Do I have to take the TEAS test at your facility?

Yes.  There has been a high level of fraud committed nationally with nursing entrance exams, and this is the best way to ensure that our applicants are the ones taking the test.  NOTE: If you took the TEAS test at another facility within the past 12 months, please share with us your score report, and we will contact the institution to verify; if you took it at home with an online proctor, we will not accept that test.

When can I take the TEAS test at your facility?

We offer the test at both our Olean Center (dates listed above).  Students should arrive no later than 15 minutes before the scheduled start and should plan for 4 hours for the test.

STUDENTS MUST PRE-REGISTER MORE THAN 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE! NO WALK-INS WILL BE ACCEPTED.  “NO CALL, NO SHOWS” WILL NOT BE REFUNDED BY ATI.

How do I register for the TEAS exam?
We will send each applicant the link to register once we have reviewed your application.  Students will use the ATI website to schedule and pay for the exam ($100); you may choose any date to test, but space is limited in each administration.
