Arts in Education and Exploratory Enrichment

Arts in Education (COSER 403)

Through the Arts in Education COSER, students can experience the arts by attending live theatrical performances throughout the year by TheatreWorks USA. Districts may also purchase tickets to productions at Shea’s Performing Art Center, the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at St. Bonaventure University, various music programs at Houghton College, and other art related events. Artists in residence and authors can also be brought into districts with prior CA BOCES Board approval.

This program includes the following theatrical performances:

Bubble Trouble, Jeff Boyer Productions; October 15-26, 2018

Dragons Love Tacos and Other Stories, Theatre Works Productions; Grades K-2;November 29, 2018 at Cuba-Rushford Elementary School OR November 30, 2018 at Salamanca High School

Rosie Revere, Engineer, Theatre Works Productions; Grades 3-5; May 16, 2019 at Cuba-Rushford Elementary School OR May 17, 2019 at Salamanca High School

Your district may also attend a live performance of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (COSER 403.040) on September 25, 2018 at Olean High School.

This service also allows participating school districts to purchase student tickets to arts related educational events.

COSER Guidelines

  • Activities must align with Learning Standards for the Arts.
  • Activities may be scheduled on weekends.
  • Food, lodging, and transportation costs are NOT eligible for BOCES aid.
  • The requesting district is responsible for making and funding all travel.
  • No share between districts is required.

Events hosted within districts must be approved by the CA BOCES Board of Education. Provide 6-8 weeks of time before the date of the event for processing paperwork. A lesson plan, aligned with Learning Standards, must be included with your request. Substitute and stipend reimbursement apply for this COSER.
