Students with Disabilities Secondary Consultant Teacher and Resource

Qualifications Required:

  1. Valid N.Y.S. teaching certificate in Students with Disabilities/Special Education Certification area.

Qualifications Desired:

  1. Special Education Teacher Experience
  2. Experience, knowledge and background related to N.Y.S. learning and standards and multiple assessments including formative and benchmark assessments in unit designs
  3. Desire and knowledge to balance students’ social/emotional and academic/intellectual needs
  4. Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills with parents, staff and students
  5. Desire and ability to work collaboratively with an academic team including an interdisciplinary approach to lesson design
  6. Knowledge of strategies in the areas of literacy and writing
  7. Knowledge and evidence of unit planning and lesson design using, differentiated instruction, project-based learning, multiple assessment formats and integration of technology
  8. Uses varied instructional methods and assessments to support:
    1. Engaged learing
    2. Higher-order thinking skills
    3. Meaningful, authentic use of knowledge
    4. Integration of 21st century skills
    5. Multiple intelligences
  9. Evidence of strong classroom management with an emphasis on student engagement and student success in the classroom
  10. Commitment to curriculum development, professional development, collaborative teamwork, and instructional technology
  11. Willingness to be a coach or activity advisor

School Psychologist

Qualifications Required:

  1. Valid N.Y.S. School Psychology certification
  2. Experience working as a psychologist with regular and special education students

Qualifications Desired:

  1. Clinical counseling experience with children and families

Duties:  The primary goal of this position is to enable students to fulfill their potential.  This may include academic, emotional and social success.  The training and tools unique to the school psychologist will be used to supplement interventions by instructional and administrative staff.

  • Access difficulties of referred students through appropriate diagnostic and testing practices, including classroom observation
  • Assist district development and implementation of RTI
  • Administer tests and recommend placement for all exceptional and new students as designated.
  • Help identify all types of exceptional children and assist in the assessment of appropriate placement for the child.
  • Maintain case records on all referred students.
  • Recommend corrective procedures and specific activities for teachers and other staff to meet the special education student’s needs.
  • Provide school counseling according to IEPs and as needed.

Teaching Assistant

Qualifications Required:

  1. New York State Teaching Assistant Certification
  2. Taken and passed NYSATAS
  3. As per State mandate, all prospective employees must pass fingerprint background check
  4. Certifications of completion for DASA, SAVE and Child Abuse Training

Qualifications Desired:

  1. Evidence of strong communication/interpersonal skills with parents, students and staff
  2. Experience with preschool and elementary age students
  3. Able to be flexible and accommodating

Salary:  As per Pioneer Auxiliary Association Agreement

Start Date:  November 20, 2020

Qualifications Required:

  1. CPR and First Aid Certification
  2. AED Certification
  3. American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
  4. Must be 18 years of age or older
  5. Prospective employees must receive state and federal clearance based on a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check.  Details are available from the district personnel office
  6. Must be responsible and punctual

Salary:  $11.80 per hour
