Eligibility: Who Can Attend?: Enrollment is open to any person 16 years of age or older. Students who are currently enrolled in a high school must present written authorization from a home school official to register for a program. Workforce Development and Community Learning programs do not provide high school credit or college course credit.
Registration, Tuition and Fees: Please do not wait to register! Fees cover normal supplies or textbooks costs for most courses unless otherwise noted. Payment is required in full for tuition and fees at the time of registration for CL. A seat in a class can only be reserved if registration and payment have been received. Notice: Any check returned for insufficient funds will be assessed a $25.00 fee.
Course Cancellation: If a minimum enrollment is not reached for a course, CABOCES reserves the right to cancel the course and will refund tuition fees paid. In the event that a course is cancelled, an attempt to notify all registrants will be made via telephone.
Refunds: Full tuition refunds will be granted only for a CANCELLATION OF CLASSSES due to insufficient registration. A refund minus 20% of the tuition will be issued by the CABOCES finance office if the Workforce Development and Community Learning Office is notified in writing five (5) days before the first class session of your intention to withdraw. No refunds will be granted after this time. Please note: Dental Assisting, Nurse Aid/HHA, Phlebotomy, Practical Nursing, 8 Hr. Security Guard, and 5-Hr Pre-licensing classes have separate refund policies that are not listed above. Be sure to ask for their policies before registering.
Students Funded By the GI Bill: Students not accepted by the school and students who never begin the programs are entitled to a full refund of all tuition and fees paid.
In the case of the student withdrawal after the commencement of classes, the school shall retain $10.00 of the registration fee plus a percentage of tuition and fees, which are pro-rated on a day-to-day basis. The refund is based on the last date of recorded attendance. All refunds will be made within 30 days from the date of withdrawal.
Previous Credit Policy for VA Recipients: CABOCES will inquire about each veteran or veteran benefit eligible person’s previous education and training and will request transcripts from all prior institution; including military training, traditional college coursework and vocational training.
Previous transcripts and training will be evaluated and credit will be granted as deemed appropriate by administration.
Standards of Progress Report: CABOCES students are evaluated on the basis of skills competency, assessments, quizzes and/or class examinations. In addition, specific job related certifications require passing either state or nationally approved assessments. Class passing scores are defined as either satisfactory or unsatisfactory and must be maintained in order for a student to remain in class and for recommendation to sit for a certifying examination. A student’s satisfactory academic progress will be evaluated three times throughout the duration of a class (for courses over 100 hours – every two (2) weeks and evening four (4) weeks. Attendance hours of training are available for each class and are reported weekly to apprise students of their progress and/or attendance status. Students are also informed of their satisfactory progress at the conclusion of their training. If necessary and at the time of evaluation, the instructor will schedule retesting and make up classes in accordance with availability of the instructor, room, and/or class setting If an additional class, Leave of Absence, or other extenuating circumstance becomes necessary, the student will meet with our Adult counseling staff to discuss and determine how to process. A possible re-test score can be used to satisfy local course requirements. However, national or state certification examinations often are upon the certifying examination retesting policy and may have additional fees. If a student fails to meet any scheduled make up sessions, he/she will be required to meet with a program administrator to avoid dismissal.
