Olean, NY – February 16, 2024 – At a special board meeting on Thursday, February 15, the CA BOCES Board of Education established the position of Deputy Superintendent and appointed Tim Cox, who has been the Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Support Services (ISS) since 2015, to the new position.
The creation of the Deputy Superintendent’s position came about after an in-depth review of regional schools’ and communities’ current and emerging needs, and BOCES growing role in supporting those schools and communities.
CA BOCES District Superintendent, Scott Payne, said that Cox’s vast experiences solidified the choice in his appointment. “After consulting with representative component school superintendents, and working with the Board, it became apparent that Tim’s experience in the broad scope of instructional support and facilitating initiatives, his expertise in teaching and learning, and his organizational commitment have prepared him to be our Deputy Superintendent.”
Cox holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Psychology from Houghton College, a Master’s degree in Reading and Literacy from Alfred University, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from SUNY Brockport. Cox has been employed with CA BOCES for 24 years and has served as the Director of ISS, a Program Manager for Schools Attuned, a Professional Developer, and a Curriculum Coordinator/Staff Specialist. Before joining CA BOCES, he taught in one of our component schools. Throughout this time, he has represented us at the local, regional, and State level and has acted as a National Schools Attuned facilitator for “All Kinds of Minds.” Cox currently serves on the New York State Education Department’s Graduation Measures Blue Ribbon Commission.
