Ten Graduate from BOCES Dental Assisting Program

New Program Starts April 30, 2019 at the Olean BOCES Center

A ceremony at the Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES Center in Olean was held Tuesday, February 12, to recognize the ten most recent graduates of CABOCES’ Dental Assisting program.

The students completed a one-year, 620-hour course approved by the New York State Education Department. The graduates are now eligible to take the state's Dental Assisting Licensing Examination. 

The graduates included: Jessica L. Baker, Limestone, NY; Christel J. Barnett, Belmont, NY; Angela M. Kio, Port Allegany, PA; Michelle A. Lazusky, Eldred, PA; Lindsey F. Leet, Bradford, PA; Julie Ann D. McCarthy, Caneadea, NY; Caitlin L. Morrison, Portville, NY; Austin K. Murphy, Bolivar, NY; Samantha R. Ouderkirk, Olean, NY; and Krystal R. Travis, Portville, NY.

Instructors Elain Alcorn and Cheryl Gelder guided the students through the curriculum and individual 200-hour internships at various local dental offices.  CABOCES Coordinator of Health Occupations Catherine Tomerlin stated seven of the ten graduates actually gained employment as dental assistants during the program.
