Big Picture and Special Education Programs Hold Graduation/Senior Celebration

By Chris McNell, Big Picture Principal/Special Education Supervisor

On Monday, June 12, we hosted our 11th annual Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES Big Picture/Special Education graduation and senior celebration luncheon to recognize the students in our Big Picture and Special Education Programs who have met their requirements for their high school diplomas.   Moonwinks Restaurant in Cuba served as the backdrop as 110 participants -- including students, parents, CA BOCES and home school district staff, administration and Board of Education members -- enjoyed a celebratory lunch and witnessed our students’ graduation speeches.  The speeches by graduates included reflection on their time spent with our programs and their post-secondary plans including work and college.

A total of 19 students from 11 different school districts participated in our CA BOCES Big Picture/Special Education graduation/senior celebration ceremony including: Alyssa Hurlburt (Belfast Central School), Cody Barth (Belfast C.S.), Thomas Monroe (Allegany-Limestone C.S.), Christina Nelson (Olean City School), Elizabeth Hoffman (Pioneer Central School), Brad Bly (Pioneer C.S.), Aliya Winchell (Friendship Central School), Sonya Belscher (Franklinville Central School), Thomas Koval (Wellsville Central School), Mikala Blouvet (Wellsville C.S.), Heather Perry (Pioneer C.S.), Jacob McGranor (Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central School), Thomas Sibley (Salamanca City School), Brian Feaster (Friendship C.S.), Jeremy Ward (Friendship C.S.), Wade Dennes (Friendship C.S.), Dawson Tarbox (Portville Central School), Justin Patterson (Allegany-Limestone C.S.), Kurt Laskey (Cuba-Rushford Central School).
